The mountains have been gradually eroding to cover the desert with a layer of dust and black rocks, making it one of the most well-liked tourist destinations in Egypt. It is called the Black Desert for this reason.
The Black Desert's highest point, English Mountain, offers stunning views of the region's distinctive topography and the Valley of El Haize, which is close to the western edge of the Bahariya Oasis.
